Walking Shapes Debut LP ‘Taka Come On’ Out Today (4/8/14)

No Shame is proud to announce the full-length debut from Walking Shapes, Taka Come On, available now via iTunes, digipak and vinyl (pre-order) HERE. The album, recorded with Gus Oberg (The Strokes), is a fierce and eclectic ode to New York City. Walking Shapes meld driving guitars, intricate arrangements and visually evocative songwriting into stunning audio refractions on the city’s sonic landscape. The record will have an accompanying album-long video, and will also be released on vinyl on Record Store Day 2014 (4/19).

Check out the video for the record’s first single “Woah Tiger”:

Musically, “Woah Tiger” sets the tone for the album – fast paced, slightly grimy and sexy – with Hoho’s soaring falsetto riding a sonically churning wave, evolving into a primal scream as the verse hits the chorus. Though there are various reference points throughout the record (the organized chaos of a song like “Winter Fell” could be the bastard child of Syd Barrett’s post-Pink Floyd albums and Kings of Leon’s Because Of The Times, “Woah Tiger” walks a similar path to My Morning Jacket’s Evil Urges) Walking Shapes create songs with a sound all their own.

Last week, Village Voice premiered and reviewed the second single and video “Winter Fell”. Check out the video and writeup by clicking here.
