Today (3/9), Pompeya have released the official music video for their most recent single, “Liar”, from their upcoming album, Real. The video was filmed at the Golden Palas Casino, in Moscow, and features a cast of dark and mysterious characters. It was directed by Alexander Khudokon and Leyla Masharipova, who explain the themes and characters:
“During the ‘90s in Russia, the kingpins ruled everything. It was a very violent, corrupt time that we grew up in. We always wanted to make a video that showcased a small part of this lifestyle. ‘Liar’ felt like a good contrast musically, and lyrically it fits quite well.”
To help launch the release, Entertainment Weekly has premiered the video on their site, saying, “the visuals create a fascinating counterpoint to the song’s perky New Wave guitars and Cure-like shimmer.”
Pompeya will also be out on a short tour, at the end of this month, playing shows at SXSW, Los Angeles and Brooklyn. See a full list of dates below!
