Today, June 16th, 2015, Alex Ferreira has released his newest album – and first US release – Cinema Tropical. The album was recorded with Andrés Nusser, the songwriter and frontman of the Chilean group, Astro, and was written/developed in four different cities. In terms of sound, Cinema Tropical marks a change in Ferreira’s normally guitar-centered songs, and focuses more on synth textures and electronic beats. The album is available on CD digi-pack and digitally, on iTunes. Pick up your copy here.
Ferreira has been promoting this album in a variety of ways, but has received most of his buzz from the album’s first single “Cambio”. The track was premiered on Remezcla, and the official music video premiered on Rolling Stone. There’s also a video of him performing the track with a more spare, acoustic arrangement. Here’s a list of some of the coverage Ferreira has received:
- Rolling Stone Spain – “Cambio” Video Premiere
- Remezcla – “Cambio” Single Premiere and Interview
- RBMA – Tour Diary
- Rolling Stone Mexico – “Cambio” Video Premiere
- MTV Iggy – Video Feature
Right now, Ferreira is on a US tour with singer and Mexican pop sensation Ximena Sariñana, as a supporting act, and has been logging his activities in a tour diary on RBMA’s website. The tour will be hitting NYC in July where Alex will play a one-off album release show, at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, with Astro and Brian Cid, on Wednesday, July 11th. Tickets are available for purchase, at this link.
